A year after Julie Harris was murdered, a trailer home five miles south of Colville off Orin Rice Road was set on fire. Marlene Emerson's remains were recovered from the scene; her cause of death is still undetermined. Her daughter Cassie has been missing since June 1997 - making her the second 12-year-old girl to go missing from Colville in just over a year. Police do not believe that the Emerson's deaths are connected to Julie Harris's, and they've ruled out Connie, Marlene's mother, and Marlene's ex-boyfriend as possible suspects.
