Martin Tyler's Departure From Sky Sports
Martin Tyler has left Sky Sports after 33 years in the chair. I always felt like Tyler was a bit too straight to be a properly lovable commentator. The best commentators are almost out in some kind of outpost away from the authorities doing their own thing and they've chosen to be up on a gantry away from the pen pushers. You can say that about pretty much every commentator. Ultimately I'm pleased he's gone. Peter D'Rourie is a very descriptive hands-on commentator. And that can divide opinion. But it's a big moment. I will be sad to see him go. As a new dad time is very much an abstract concept to me at the moment
