Retail Sales Growth Is Not Adjusted for Inflation

Retail sales are not adjusted for inflation. They don't adjust for population growth, which is absolutely insane. If I eat the same food, but it costs me more, that is not an increase in retail sales. It's just not. But having to pay more for stuff, particularly restaurant food, was the biggest component of retail sales. And so someone actually pointed out on Twitter that, well, wait a minute, if retail sales were up, you know, whatever, it was six point something and inflation was six point four,. We have negative retail sales growth, right?
