Is There an Engineer Brain at Work?

The tech industry at the highest echelons has a long history of obsession around potential terrifying apocalyptic, tail-risk events. We've heard the stories of guys like Peter Thiel seeking citizenship in New Zealand or building bunkers. There is an element of engineer brain tier too, and to defend Silicon Valley creatures that I know and love, there have obviously been a lot of geopolitical mistakes over the last few decades. Maybe you could solve for it by using the principles, at least, of technology and of engineering in a way that protects the long-term future of humanity.
