The conventional story is that first came the car, and then e national governments built roads. But if you look at other parts in the world, they experienced the proliferation of car culture totally differently. And because it started by building roads way before the breakthrough of national car culture. I was really taken aback by when you read the report aly by the world bank er, the eagerness to spread the gospel of the automobile against trains and against railways.
