Is the Country Ready for a Change?
The country had been ready for a change back to monarchy ever since the monarchy was removed. It never wanted the republic that it got and with the combination of warfare, recession and high taxation, it didn't have much incentive to. Most people think Richard's doing a rather good job but suspect he might establish a new royal family because he's a crowd pleaser. He completely underestimates the hostility of the ordinary foret Richard so breaks him.
