The Grateful Dead's Opposite

Brent Myland was a retiring, quiet, submissive personality. Nobody in the band up to that point seems to have even known he was using heroin. All three of his successors had the same emotionally vulnerable personality. I don't know that anybody's ever known, short of imposing absolute authoritarian control,. That is of course the opposite of what the Grateful Dead stand for. Will we be forced to become our own opposites? Interesting philosophical question.
