The Afterlife of Spies in the Second World War
There were supports within their own network of friends. MI9 had a top secret section known as Room 900 and that was sending agents behind enemy lines in much the same way as SOE. As far as we can make out, they were different operations because that's SOE, that's for them to do. They went into areas like the Baltics and Yugoslavia and around Austria and Hungary. We only know about those that didn't make it back. And there's a very slim file about them saying that they've passed away - but it doesn't say what their operations are. A good many of them stayed on in intelligence, not all of them.
