The Rise of Religious Conservatism in the Former Soviet States
After 1990, there was a push to return to tradition in the former Soviet states. Inevitably, that means that you go back to these patriarchal customs. The Catholic Church has played a huge part for example, in Poland's decision to introduce legislation against abortion. And in Hungary as well, what you see is constantly this refrain about, you know, the traditional family. That inevitably, I think, has had terrible consequences for women.
