The Distinction Between the Secular and the Religious
After independence, history writing was assiduously ommitted to this rigorous distinction between what was declared religious and what was thought to be secular. In the last 50, 60 years there has ben a lot of pressure put on thinking that religion should be considered outwith the disciplinary domains of history. Now that's become very interesting, important urgent with the rise of certain forms of islamis thinking in partistan and bangla dag. So that's brought even greater urgency, an urgency to do with a not only academic ideas, but the very transformation of society to the connection between the category of religion and the category of history.
