The History of New Year's Traditions
Many of the New Year's traditions around the world aren't as big as festivals or fireworks displays. In Ecuador, their celebrations also involve fire, but not necessarily fireworks. It's considered a good luck if a dark-haired man is the first person to set foot in your house on New Year's Day. Some people put salt on their doorsteps to keep evil spirits away.
