Epnicity and Identity in the Fifth Century
If some one in the fifth century was buried with a brooch that stylistically looks different to late roman models and more similar to examples from the continent, for example, does that mean that they were from the continent? We're never going to be able to prove whether somebody buried with a particular kind of brooch believed themselves to be an angle or a saxon. And we've really tried to tackle ethmicity and identity. But i think it's pretty much intractable. Actually. We can speculate, but i don't think we can really those questions, different questions, questions. Questions about osteology, you know, how tall are people? What has their diet?
