Domain Driven Design Isn't the Only Game in Town
domain driven design is the best general purpose approach to decomposition. But whenever I'm sort of working with a team trying to find boundaries, I'm not going to look at just a domain model in isolation. Other overlays that can be useful is looking at things like volatility. So if you're decomposing an existing monolithic structure, it might be good to know which parts of your codebase change more frequently.
