The original doon novel was loosely inspired bya lawrence of arabia. Filnerv even said in an interview that what connected him to the story is that he saw paul as this sort of well intentioned person who did have like, heroic rations. And he sort of finds a place into another culture, like, he finds a new home in a different people's but then, despite his best intentions, ends up causing some suffering. In part two we'll find out if that happens or not.
