In the new series of Star Trek, Jake Solley travels to a planet called Pandora. He is given an avatar body by scientists that he can project his brain and consciousness into. The program gives him free reign to exist in space as long as he doesn't kill anyone on Earth. But it also puts him at risk for being killed or injured if he tries to get too close to one of the Navi people.
