Is There a Colonial History?

Ethnic divisions, borders drawn along ethnic lines, stoking ethnic conflict is a classic heritage of colonialism. Hylie Selassie was an imperial dictator. And the way that kingdoms worked in Ethiopia throughout whatever history we know was imperial governance through power. So there is this history of ruling with an iron fist in that territory that I think is very much a part of Amharah's success.
