Long Qing's Death

The Long Qing emperor was a full-time devotee of pursuing his own personal pleasure, especially with the introduction in his inner court of a beautiful Turkish dancing girl. His five years on the throne were equally marked by a distinct lack of major political crises or decisions of any real lasting importance. The damage he did was institutional and long term in effect, for he needed a chief executive, whose decisions were emphatically backed up by the throne.
