Are the Courtiers Still Enjoying Courtly Love?
By the end of her reign, are courtiers still enjoying courtly love? Or does it start to become of bit less of favour? I'd say i can see the paternts of courtly love at elizabeth's court almost in two successive waves. The favourites of the first years were men like leicester and hatton. But my own feeling is that as the game became more hyperbolic, it was actually losing the kind of emotional reality that had once underlain it.
