Environmental History Is No Longer a Necessary Sub-Focus

The relationship between humans and our environments will be seen as integral in all histories. So that environmental history is no longer really a necessary sub field no time soon. There are aspects of human history that can be understood with minimal reference to the web of life and the planet earth. And it need not have any environmental component to it whatever. But i do think environmental history should, perhaps for regrettable reasons,. We'll colonize a larger and larger part of history curricula and historical scholarship.
