The History of Color Creation

In the 18 fifties and sixties chemists started creating from scratch. The first great, hugely successful synthetic dye was a purple created by an 18 year old boy called william henry perkins in shadwell. Purple became much more dable, much more fordable, than the ancient purples. And so lots of people could wear it. We even ended up having purple stamps, postage stamps. But on the flip side, synthetic chemistry did have health concerns, didn't it? Did prompt fears that these chemicals could lead to health issues, to disease. How did this idea of tox purple come into play?
