I was very intrigued by the a woman with whom the book starts. She was called mariemar, and she was illiterate. And she swore to a power of attorney to try and find out what had happened to her late husband. So i thought, this is a very inquisitive, illiterate woman. I wonder what the real story was. The other thing was actually a document from something that happened just a few weeks later. A pre nuptial contract of marie mar's daughter. On the last page there were 83 people who'd signed the pre nup as witnesses. These people have a lot of friends, or a lot of em people. They want to impress
