Retraining a Habit of Self Compassion
A lot of times we get mad at ourselves for being this way. And it's helpful to realize that that is just how the human brain works. The more you criticize yourself, the more it's going to stress you out and push you back towards old habits. Self criticism is a bad habit that most of us are really familiar with. It doesn't actually help you move towards your long term goals. But you do it because that's what you've been doing your whole life. Retraining a habit of self compassion is developing a new tool that is really helpful in a lot of situations.
