The Human Impact of AIDS in New York
People with AIDS are excluded from a large number of nursing homes in New York. There's very little kind of public space. People have trouble getting access to housing that is not housing. They're also already renting. So suddenly there's this like big incentive to keep people in apartments that the state is kind of like co-opted into because people with AIDS are not really welcoming nursing homes. In terms of kind of a, you know, history of US welfare, the third rail of stigma structures the conversation when it comes to HIV AIDS so profoundly.
