Paying for Value Instead of Volume?
The way that we've traditionally paid for care, a fee for service payment for doctors and per admission or por procedure payment for hospitals. The assumption is that this payment for volume insentivizes providers to order more tests and do doing more proce gers. So the argument is, if we change financial incentives to emphasize preventionnd and pay providers for value instead of volume, the cost growth will be restrained.
