How Can I Be There for My Kids?
From an emotional perspective, how should we best be there for our kids? I mean, say a kid has done something wrong or a child is crying about something. A lot of parents are told not to pick up a crying kid. Let them get over it. You know, now tell that to another cat, okay? But tell them to another bear to ignore their child's cries of distress. And in Aboriginal societies, by the way, kids will not allow to cry. It says as soon as they whimper, they were picked up and held and rocked and catered around. Why? Because cortisol, the stress hormone is going through their brains. That interferes with brain development
