The australian republican movement has moved forward with a new model in selecting head of state. It's called the alian choice model, and is very similar to the new zealand republican model. State and territories will pull together a short list of candidates to be president, three from the federal parliament, then one from each state and territory. Then the public will vote on that short list. Fear mongers think, is this a good model, as opposed to Australians voting for any one outright?
