John Claudius Luden wrote about suburbia in the 1830s, just before Queen Victoria. He was a Scottish philanthropist who moved to Bayeswater and Bautavilla. His villa was kind of like the show home prototype of suburbia which he wrote about. Key to that was filling this garden with exotic plants, fruit trees.
