Charlie's nan has been desperately trying to get him into school. She lays his uniform out on the bed, she even walks in with pots and pans. But it felt to me like James was torn between the need to get him son into school but kind of siding with his son's aspirations bizarrely. The last resort is that parents are fined and they can even spend up to three months in prison. If they started doing that for Charlie, they'd have to start doing that for a whole host of children.
