The government is using that argument to distract you from the fact that we are getting destroyed by the Chinese Communist Party on the surveillance front first. They have pretty much mapped out the entire United States using low tech balloons and probably standard cheapo drones for years now. And the government's been distracting you at leaks and Joe winks and nods about aliens and little green men to get you to believe. To get you to, as you said, to distract youfrom the fact that they don't want to tell you we're getting wrecked by China.
