The Origins of Rehabilitative Judgment
In theory, this is supposed to make supervision more efficient and effective. That's not necessarily what happens in practice. The tool that was developed to all of these statistical associations that are used to spit out the risk score were developed in samples of people already criminalized. They had already spent time in jails or prisons. And the big problem is that there's been this move to kind of take the same model and apply it to different parts of the system.
