The Chief Justice's Position on Equal Protection

The chief justice is trying to implement what he sees as a color blind Constitution. He believes that's what the Constitution requires. Not everywhere there are some exceptions in other areas of law and we saw him uphold part of the Voting Rights Act earlier this month. So I can't get inside his head is he being disingenuous or is it just simply he wants to take race out of the picture in American society?
