Introduction
Michael Koval: We are left with almost always fallacy, fallacies, logical fallacies. The straw man is based on giving the impression of refuting an opponent's argument while actually refuting an argument that was not presented by that opponent. This is short for argument at hominem, a fallacious argument of strategy whereby an argument is rebutted by attacking the character motive or other attribute of the person making the argument rather than attacking the substance of the argument itself.
