The Ryan White Act and the Politics of Health
The Ryan White Care Act was passed in the early 90s. It provides for minority access to care, which is a positive thing but it doesn't make our model of for profit healthcare sustainable long-term. The insurance lobby has been violently against it and they employ David Micksner, who is an attorney and often referred to as Bill Clinton's gay friend because he's such a prolific fundraiser for Bill Clinton among gay like political organizers. And so you have all sorts of like programs that are sort of like more holistically focused, more funded because of theRyan White Care Act.
