Taking Advantage of Major Anomalies in the Market
It seems to me there's this interesting paradox, maybe for lack of a better way of saying it, when it comes to alternatives that are focused on anomalies. If you give too much access to a strategy which is designed to take advantage of an anomaly, then the anomaly goes away. I'd like to see a mutual fund or in a private fund vehicle where you have the ability to do just that. That's where a fund structure becomes an important part of the decision. Most funds that are taking advantage of major anomalies in the market are doing it in the private markets. It's hard to beat the S&P when it's the only game in town.
