The Importance of Sharing Decision-Making
The risk of sudden death is pretty high in patients with end-stage renal disease on dialysis. We have seen a couple of trials that tell us that defibrillators may not work for those patients. I would be very compelled to consider implanting an ICD in those patients unless I know their life expectancy is very limited and maybe they don't want a device.
