The Gravity of the New Criminal Charges Facing Former President Donald Trump
The special counsel's office filed three new felony charges in its investigation of the former president's alleged mishandling of classified documents. Even as he insists he has done nothing wrong, federal investigators say Trump's own staffers viewed him as the so-called boss of his Florida estate who allegedly pressured them to destroy evidence sought by prosecutors. Former President Donald Trump leads the Republican presidential field by as much as 30 points in some polls. His sustained popularity is why opponents closest to him avoid directly criticizing his alleged misconduct.
