The Importance of Governance of Water in India
Most of my scholarship has focused on inequality, questions of social justice and transformation. For the past 25 to 30 years, I focused on the effects of economic liberalization that have been intensified since the 1990s in India. The reason I chose water is that water is very unique in many ways. It cuts across every aspect of our life and society. And so if we want to think about a sustainable and equitable approach to water governance, we really have to pay close attention to how institutions work.
