Freemasonry and Religion

Under the Scottish right, you have to believe in God. But then they also on the other hand say, but we're not even allowed to talk about religion in our meetings. What's going on there? I think it's probably one of those things where they just figured out pretty early on after having held meetings for centuries that they're like, wow, you just can't bring up religion and politics. It ticks everybody off. Believe me. Don't go there friend.
