The Importance of Understanding the Nature of a Proverb

A Proverb is a short pithy saying that either dispenses advice or gives you some sort of axiomatic truth. The most well-known example of how important it is to understand the nature of a Proverb is Proverbs 22 verse 6. It says, train up a child in the way he should go. Even when he is old, he will not depart from it. We all know situations where we have faithful believers who have made a good faith attempt and in some cases an extraordinary attempt to get their children to follow them in their faith but they just don't.
