In patients with multiple hereditary exostosis, note that proximate legions are more likely to undergo malignant transformation than distal legions. The most common sights of deformity include the knee, forearm and ankle. Know that there is a higher risk of malignant degeneration in sesile legions. Thick cartilage caps imply growth, but are not reliable indicator of malignant deterioration.
