Is There a Futurelessness?
Environmental social theory has a hard time taking futurelestness seriously. It feels really bad w everyone hates it, including people with whom i might agree much at the time. The idea that there's something valuable and politically radical in that feeling is what i am really pushing for here. For i'm also very aware that the feeling itself may well not feel good. Were constantly being told to stay hopeful, and losing hope is like a personal and political failing. So then the question isn't how do we keep the struggle going in these ents of depression or futurelessness? Or more actively, like, how might those moments of depression orfuturelessness teach us a different way of being in or thinking
