Elon Musk is the new official owner of Twitter, having completed a $44 million buyout. He will take the influential social media outfit private in a bid to reshape its focus beyond the need for quarterly market reviews and fiduciary duty to shareholders. This has understandably caused chaos, much of it from the anxiety riddled Twitter power user base. Yet the fate of the vaunted blue check mark is all anyone wants to talk about this week. The verified system could undergo changes under Musk, including a pitch by the new CEO to make it a play a pay to play system.
