The Illuminati and the Freemasons
By the end of 1778, two years after their birth, the Illuminati grew from 12 members to 27. This was mostly due to the work of Adam Weishelpt's new second-in-command, Xavier Vans Vak. One of his biggest recruits was Jakub Anton Hertla, who had close ties to the Munich Frauenkirche Cathedral. Another big recruit was Count Thaddeus von Dorn-Untoxys, who ran the imperial postal system in the Hopsberg-controlled Holy Roman Empire.
