The key to understanding Iran's reforms is that it was basically everybody had to ultimately serve within the grand design of his project. He didn't expect students who were then sent to Berkeley to study to come back as Maoists and call his ruling to question. And on the one hand, he was co-opting this of long history of struggles by independent women's organizations,. But he certainly, you know, he didn't expect women to challenge his rule.
