The image of god surrounding his people is very common in the bible. Weare accustomed to thinking that god built the universe as a house for himself, as a pavilion in which he would stay. But the bible also uses the image of us being in his house, and him being the house that protectsWe are surrounded by god on all sides, and that protects us. In psalm 91, this image is used psalm 90: "He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will abide in the shadow of the almighty"
