Mark O'Mara: Most responsible election lawyers would say if it's a preexisting obligation that you would have had apart from running for office or preexisting consideration, it cannot be imputed to a campaign finance violation. He says the US Attorney's Office took it very kindly that Michael Cohen was willing to plead guilty to something that isn't a crime. "The fact that they extorted a statement from him does not make it a crime," he adds.
