Stress Fractures in Athletes
Stress fractures may be found in weight bearing cortical bones such as the tibia, metatarsals and femur. These patients may never reach their peak bone mass. Patients may enter adult hood with what may be an irreversible bone mass deficiency. Neither calcium nor increased physical activity can compensate for the deficit in bone mass.
