Harry J. Anzlinger: The Grandfather of Alcohol Prohibition
In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt signed the Pure Food and Drugs Act. The act required pharmaceutical companies to label all drugs contained in over-the-counter medications - including cannabis. It was far from a nationwide prohibition of cannabis like what would be enacted 30 years later. A man named Harry J. Anzlinger is almost single-handedly responsible for cannabis prohibition in the United States.
