One of the great interests of the greek revolution is what it tells us about european history at this time. The british, and george canning in particular, had used the greek revolt to effect what was a far more important goal for him. And by doing so, he smashed this coalition of conservative powers. But i think that it would be a mistake only to look at this from the diplomatic point of view because you have to ask, what caused this change? Brings in women as major political actors for first time.
