Jay: I think a question is like if you look at the responses in the 70s and 80s to crimes and violence against Asian-Americans. The response was like we are Americans and we need to double down on our American this and our belonging, he says. Jay: Can we say something more nuanced where we like can still respect the fact that we have ties to other places? He thinks some people already are doing the "I'm just an American" thing but it's interesting now because they're sort of coming out saying Chinese people are the best Americans.
